In this tutorial, we’re using a timeline feed here.
Step 3: Connect to Your Facebook Group
The next step is to connect a Facebook account to your website so you have a source for your Facebook feed. To add a new source, just click on Add New.
Now you can see a new popup where you can pick between a Facebook page or group. Here, just select the Group option and then click on Connect.
Once you do that, the plugin will send you to Facebook. There, you can give the plugin view access to your Facebook account.
The plugin can only view your Facebook posts with that access, but it can’t change anything. So, using Smash Balloon is completely safe.
Just select the Continue option here.
On the new popup, click on the Continue button to proceed.
You can now see all the Facebook groups connected to your account. Select the group you prefer and then click on the Next button.
After that, you can now see a popup that asks you to add the Smash Balloon app to your group.
To do that, you can follow the instructions here.
Now that you’ve added the app, you can just go back to WordPress. On the popup, just click on Done to proceed.
All you have to do now is select your group from the list of sources and then click on Next.
After that, you’ve connected your Facebook group to your website.
The next step is to customize your Facebook group feed. Let’s talk about how you can do this below.
Step 4: Customize a Facebook Group Feed
Now your new Facebook group feed will be open in the live feed editor.
On the left side of the screen, you can see all the customization options.
With these options, you can change your feed type, layout, color scheme, header style, post layout, and much more.
And whenever you make a change, you can see a live preview on the right.
If you want to start customizing, select the Feed Layout option.
When it comes to layouts for your Facebook group feed, you’ve got 4 options here: List, Grid, Masonry, and Carousel.
You can show all the posts in your Facebook group one after the other with the list layout. It’s a good option if you want to make your Facebook posts very visible.
Want to show lots of Facebook posts at once? You can go for the grid option then.
If you just want to show Facebook photos in different columns with their original proportions, there’s the masonry layout.
Finally, you can use a Facebook carousel layout if you want your posts to look more dynamic.
Select the layout you like from all these options. And once you do, you can save changes by clicking on the Save button at the top.
To continue customizing your feed, you can then click on the Customize button on the top.
Now from the options, select the Color Scheme option to set the colors for your Facebook feed.
Here, you’ve got 4 options for your color scheme:
- Inherit From Theme: To copy your theme’s color scheme.
- Light: For a color scheme with a clear white background and dark font color.
- Dark: If you want a darker background with lighter font color.
- Custom: To add your own colors to your feed.
Simply select your preferred color scheme from these options here and then click on Save.
After that, you can customize the other parts of your feed, like the header style, margins, post elements, and more.
Once the customization is over, just click on Save.
Step 5: Embed a Facebook Group on Your Website
Now that you’ve customized your feed, it’s time to learn how to add Facebook groups to WordPress. For that, you have 2 ways to do it.
Embed a Facebook Group on Your WordPress Page
First of all, click on the Embed button on your live feed editor.
Now you can see a popup where you can pick where you post your group feed. To proceed, click on the Add to a Page button.
Once you click that, you can see a list of pages where you can post your feed. Select the web page you want and then click on Add.
Now, this Facebook group plugin will send you to that page.
There, just click on the small plus icon (+) at the top. And to finish things off, select the Custom Facebook Feed widget.
Finally, click on the Publish button and you’re done!
And there you go! You’ve now embedded your Facebook group on your website. Now whenever you make new posts on your Facebook group, this feed will automatically show it as well.
You can now open up your WordPress site and see how your feed looks.
Embed a Facebook Group on Your WordPress Sidebar
The second way is to embed your Facebook group feed into your website’s sidebar as a Facebook widget.
You can do that from your live feed editor.
And to open the live feed editor, you can click on the Facebook Feed » All Feeds menu on your dashboard.
On this page, there’s a list of all the Facebook feeds on your website. To proceed, just click on your Facebook group feed.
You can now see the live feed editor once again. Here, just click on the Embed button in the top right corner.
You can now see a popup to choose where to embed your Facebook feed. Here, click on Add to a Widget.
Doing this brings you to the Widgets page, where you can add or remove all the widgets on your site.
Here, just click on Sidebar to go ahead and add your Facebook group widget to your sidebar area.
This will open a panel that shows all the widgets on your sidebar right now. Now click on the plus icon (+) and select the Custom Facebook Feed widget.
Finally, click on Update to add the Facebook group to your website sidebar or footer.
With that, you’ve now added your Facebook group widget on your website sidebar without touching any shortcode or coding language.
Just check and see how it looks.
And that’s it!

Thank you for this, but I need some clarification. I have a Facebook group and a website about Roblox. I share promo codes on my Facebook group as soon as a new promo is released and obviously share it on my website as well.
Now I understood that I can embed a Facebook group but is it possible to show only specific posts ? The reason I want to have this is because I share a lot of stuff of my group but I only want to show posts related to promo codes only as this page of my website is only serving promo codes
Hello Benjamin, thanks so much for your question.
Yes, with the help of Custom Facebook Feed Pro, you can indeed be able to use moderation tools in the plugin to filter posts. One way you could do this is tag each post with a specific word, sentence, or hashtag, such as #promooftheday and then filter the posts in your Facebook group to show posts with only #promooftheday.

Hi Smash Balloon, can your plugin be used to pull out all group posts to wordpress as a backup for facebook group posts? What will happen if the group is suspended? We will still have offline archive on the site?
Hello Radostina, thanks so much for your question.
That is not possible because of 2 reasons:
– The API only allows us access to see posts made after the Smash Balloon app has been added to the group.
– The API will, even after this, only show posts and any other content only if it is less than 90 days old.
If the group is suspended, the posts will still show everything that has been cached such as text and images, but not full albums.
There is no way in the API to “back up” a Facebook group and Facebook does not have a tool for this, only for their personal profile content.
