How to Schedule Your Facebook Post (Step-by-Step Guide)

Ready to get started? Just follow our step-by-step guide below, and you can schedule Facebook posts from your site with ease.

Let’s get started!

Step 1: Create a ClickSocial Account

The first step is to get your ClickSocial account. You can do that on the ClickSocial website here by clicking on Sign Up.

Next, return to your WordPress site and open the Plugins » Add New Plugins menu from your dashboard.

Then use the search bar at the top to look for the “ClickSocial” plugin.

Once you do that, you’ll see the ClickSocial plugin in the search results below.

To continue, click on the Install Now button.

Just wait for the plugin to finish installing. Once that’s done, click on the Activate button.

Step 2: Connect Your Website to ClickSocial

Now, you can use an API key to connect this website to ClickSocial. This allows ClickSocial to make posts from your website.

For that, open the ClickSocial website and click on the Generate API Key button on your dashboard.

Doing that will show you all the API keys you’ve created so far. Each key will let you connect to a separate website.

From here, click on the Add New button to continue.

This will open a popup where you can enter the name of your website.

After you add a name, click on the Generate API Key button.

Just like that, ClickSocial will create an API key for your website. This is pretty important, so make sure you keep it safe.

To proceed, click on the Copy button and return to your site.

After that, you can return to your WordPress site. Now, open the ClickSocial menu from your dashboard and click on Setup My Account.

Finally, paste the API key that you copied earlier.

Just like that, you can click on Connect to finish adding your site to ClickSocial.

Step 3: Connect Your Facebook Account

By connecting your Facebook account, ClickSocial can start scheduling and publishing posts for you. It’s a pretty simple process, too.

First, click on the Add Account here.

Using ClickSocial, you can connect your site to 3 of the biggest social media platforms:

  • Twitter/X
  • Facebook
  • Instagram

This time, I’ll go with the Connect to Facebook option.

After you do that, the plugin will redirect you to Facebook. 

Here, you can go ahead and select your profile before clicking on Continue.

On the popup, you’ll see a list of businesses that you’ve connected to Facebook. To continue, just select your business on the popup and click on Continue.

After that, the popup will show a list of Facebook pages that you’ve created.

Like before, select a page on the popup and click on the Continue button.

Finally, you can check out the permissions that ClickSocial will ask for. By enabling these permissions, you can auto-post to Facebook from WordPress in just a few clicks. 

Simply click on Got it, and you’ll be redirected to your website.

Before scheduling Facebook posts, you can set up your timezone for ClickSocial. There are 2 different timezone options you can pick from:

  • Use ClickSocial’s connected account timezone
  • Use WordPress site timezone

For this example, I’ll use the same timezone as the WordPress website.

After you pick your option, it’s time to click on Finish Setup.

Step 4: Setup Your Facebook Post Calendar

You’ll then see your post calendar, where you can track your scheduled and published Facebook posts. Plus, you can also see your drafts and posts that are awaiting approval.

Ready to get started? First, let’s set up the publishing times for your Facebook content.

Just click on the Edit Schedule button at the top.

Now you’ll see a popup where you can choose the days and time slots where you can schedule Facebook posts.

Using the checkboxes on the left, you can pick the days when your Facebook content can go online.

Next, you can use the dropdown menu to change any of these time slots.

To add more slots, you can just click on the plus (+) icon. And you can delete a slot by clicking on the red trash icon.

So, you can freely change the dates and times using the available options here.

Afterward, click on the Save Changes button.

Step 5: Schedule a Facebook Post

To start drafting a Facebook post, you can click on the Add New button at the time.

Or you can pick a time slot and then click on the plus (+) icon on the right.

Either of these options will open the post composer for Facebook. From here, you can write your post, add media, and more.

To get started, let’s enter the text of the post in the box here.

Now, we can add additional content to this Facebook post. There are 3 different options that you can use:

  • Photo: Pick a photo from your media gallery and insert it into the post
  • WordPress Post: Link any of your WordPress posts to your new post
  • Video: Add a video from your WordPress media gallery to the post instead

As a demonstration, I’ll use the photo option to add a picture to the Facebook post.

Just like that, you can use the remaining options to design your Facebook post. Once you’re happy with how it looks, you can use the Preview button.

This will let you check how the post will look on your Facebook page.

After checking the preview, you can go ahead and schedule this Facebook post.

To choose the time, click on the dropdown menu beside the Publish option.

Clicking on that opens a popup where you can pick the date and time for your Facebook post.

On the left, you can select which day you’d like to schedule this post.

And on the right, you can either pick a time slot from earlier or Schedule for custom time and select the time yourself.

After you do that, your Facebook post is ready to go online.

To confirm this time, click on the Add time to Schedule button on the popup.

Finally, click on the Schedule Post button and ClickSocial will handle the rest.

ClickSocial will then set this post to be scheduled, and you can find it on your post calendar. You can even make changes to this post if you like.

Once the time slot arrives, your post will be online on Facebook for everyone to see.
