My Facebook Group Feed is not updating – Permissions Error

Due to recent Facebook API changes, some Groups feed will not update if the “Professional Mode” feature is enabled in your Facebook account.

To confirm your feed is affected by this issue, you can use the Query Monitor plugin and check for API errors like the one below.

To confirm you are affected by this API change, copy the URL of the error and open it in a new tab on your browser; you will see an error with the following details:

If you see the same error, you will need to disable “Professional Mode” on your Facebook account. To do so, follow the steps below (reference):

  • Navigate to
  • Click your profile photo in the top right corner of Facebook, then click your name.
  • Click the 3 dots below your cover photo.
  • Click Turn off professional mode.
  • Click Continue, then click Turn off.

After this, clear the plugin cache. To do so, navigate to your WordPress Dashboard > Facebook feed > Settings > Feeds > click the Clear All Caches button.
