While you don’t need an Access Token in order to display most types of content in the Custom Facebook Feed plugin we do recommend it. An Access Token is required by Facebook in order to access their public data API. The plugin has a shared token built into it which works for most purposes and so it isn’t usually necessary for you to have your own to use the plugin, however, having your own dedicated token will help to isolate you from any potential issues which could occur with the token built into the plugin. If you don’t have an Access Token but you’d like to use your own in the plugin then just follow the instructions here.
Type of Access Tokens
Regular “App” Access Tokens
Regular “App” Access Tokens work for most purposes and never expire. They can be used to display content from Facebook pages and some content from groups. You can obtain an “App” Access Token by following the directions here.

They are used to display reviews (using the Reviews extension) or for displaying the names/avatars of people who comment on your posts (see this FAQ for more information). You can obtain a “Page” Access Token by following the directions here.
