Manually updating the Custom Twitter Feeds plugin

If you’re experiencing an issue updating the plugin automatically via your WordPress Plugins page then you can manually update the plugin in one of three ways.

Manually Update via the WordPress Add Plugins page (WordPress 5.5+)

Since the WordPress 5.5 update, it is possible to upload plugin files on the plugins page without first uninstalling the plugin.

  1. Download the latest version of the plugin from your Account
  2. Upload it via your WordPress Plugins page by clicking on ‘Add New’ > ‘Upload Plugin’
  3. Click Install
  4. Click Replace current with uploaded

Uninstall and Reinstall (WordPress 5.4 and below)

  1. Check the following setting on the plugin’s main Settings page in WordPress so that your plugin settings are preserved: “Preserve settings when plugin is removed”
  2. Uninstall the plugin
  3. Download the latest version of the plugin from your Account
  4. Upload it via your WordPress Plugins page by clicking on ‘Add New’ > ‘Upload Plugin’

Replace the files via FTP

If you have FTP access to your website then you can update the plugin by simply replacing the old plugin files with the new files.

  1. Download the latest version of the plugin from your Account and unzip the file
  2. Log into your site via FTP and locate the plugin files. These are usually in wp-content/plugins/custom-twitter-feeds-pro
  3. Replace the files
