The plugin is designed with minimizing the affect on page speed in mind. The feed will display thumbnails of your videos that are optimized for size of your feed when the page is loaded. No iframes for playing videos are loaded until the feed is interacted with.
Data from the YouTube API is cached to make subsequent page loads as fast as retrieving a WordPress post from the database.
The CSS and JavaScript files for the plugin are minified and the JavaScript file is loaded only on pages that include a YouTube feed.
